Come to Fairbanks & Celebrate! "Communication is an Art" Yukon-Alaska Council of Toastmasters International Speech & Evaluation Contests and Workshops! Yukon-Alaska Council of Toastmasters invites you to attend the Spring Conference in Fairbanks, AK at Pikes Waterfront Lodge. Key Note Speaker: Mary Cheyne, Second Place winner at the 2009 Toastmasters International Speech Contest. Schedule: Conference starts Friday at 5pm for YACT officers' Executive Committee Meeting, and at 6pm for the Business Meeting, which includes voting members (YACT Officers, Club Presidents and Club VP's of Education-Signed proxies are only accepted for Club Presidents and Club VP's of Education) and is open to all Yukon-Alaska Toastmasters. Elections will be held at the Business Meeting for YACT Officers to represent you in the 2010-2011 Toastmasters year. At 7:30pm Friday night we'll have a social time and "Tall Tales" speech from anyone who wants to join in! (this will not held as a contest). Saturday at 7:30am registration for the conference continues. We start things off at 8:30am with the PARADE OF BANNERS, so don't forget to bring your club's banner! The Key Note and Workshops follow, ending at 5:05pm. The Evaluation Contest will be held during lunch. The No Host bar starts up at 6pm, with the Banquet and International Speech Competition follow, then the AUCTION-don't forget to bring something you've made to auction off (this goes with our artful theme). On Sunday there will be training for Area and Division Governors, and anyone with an interest in learning what those jobs entail. This training includes information on building club membership and how to build teams. It ends at noon. Workshops: Hotel Discount: Call early to reserve your room at Pikes (link is for your information only - do not make reservations through the website for special room rate). Printable information here for your clubs. The hotel has blocked 40 rooms for our event. The "early bird" cost of the rooms is $65.00 per night. The special rate ends April 10, 2010.
